Our Team Spotlight is on the incredible Rose Martin. She's not just a Project Manager at Wattle – she's the heart and soul of our organisation, our communication superstar, and our in-house guru for all things product-related. She brightens up our team with her warm approach and in-depth knowledge of our products.
Hello Rose!
With nearly five years at Wattle, and a steady rise from Project Coordinator to Project Manager, Rose is a core member of our delivery team. She manages big and small MemEx implementation projects and is crucial in steering them to success. Rose's excellent teamwork and project management skills, and ability to handle complex business scenarios, make her indispensable in helping clients redefine their member's experiences.
My name is Rose Martin, and I am a Project Manager at Wattle. I've been with the company for nearly five years, starting as a Project Coordinator before being promoted to Junior Project Manager two years ago. Now, as Project Manager, I manage 4-6 projects on an ongoing basis, ranging from small Umbraco CMS website builds to large-scale digital transformation programmes to implement MemEx – our membership experience platform.
Currently, I'm working on a MemEx implementation project for Renewable UK. I've also worked with a lot of non-profit and charity clients and managed several Umbraco CMS website projects for the Soil Association. One of my ongoing clients is the Royal Osteoporosis Society, a long-term MemEx user, where I'm heavily engaged with the delivery team.
After University, I took some time to travel. Once back, I joined an architectural firm and later transitioned to an engineering company. However, my interest always leaned towards project-based roles, eventually leading me to Wattle.
Every day at Wattle brings something new, which is challenging and exciting. There's always something new to learn every week. This role has pushed my boundaries, made me step out of my comfort zone, and brought me out of my shell. I've learnt to navigate complex situations, manage challenging stakeholders, and how to bring projects in on time and too budget. Also, it's not just about individual efforts here - being a team player is crucial.
My work environment is fast paced, with multiple projects, clients, and stakeholders. However, my personal life reflects a slower pace. I prefer to relax and recharge when I'm not working!
Enhancing member engagement
Customising membership experiences
Creating engaging websites with great UI and UX
My role is all about teamwork and collaboration to manage projects effectively. By working collectively and addressing each client's specific needs, we can tackle these challenges and ensure the successful delivery of each project.
As a Project Manager, I ensure a successful project outcome that meets our client's needs. Although I might not be directly involved in the development of the MemEx platform, I ensure that the projects I manage incorporate any new advancements and cater to the evolving landscape of client needs and member expectations.
When I'm not in Bristol, you'll find me visiting my mum in Cornwall, which is lovely because it's by the beach. Living in Bristol, there's always something to do. I spend a lot of time out and about with friends, socialising, and catching up. If it's midweek, I'm usually a bit of a hermit, preferring a quiet evening in. Above all, I like to balance the fast-paced work environment with a relaxed personal life.
